Generic Arimidex (anastrozole) is an anti-cancer medication, prescribed to postmenopausal women diagnosed with breast cancer of certain types. It lowers the level of estrogen in one’s body. As tumors require estrogen for growth, the medication can be extremely effective for breast cancer treatment even after other methods have failed.
Generic Arimidex should be taken in strict compliance with your doctor’s instructions and directions on the prescription label. Do not alter dosage or the prescribed period of use without prior medical consult.
Generally, Generic Arimidex is taken daily for an extended period of time, which might reach up to five years. Individual prescriptions will depend on your condition and should be defined by your medical specialist.
Generic Arimidex can be taken during meals or otherwise.
DO not use the medication if you are allergic to it. If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.

Note that this list does not include all possible side effects. Other side effects might occur depending on individual health conditions.
Taking Generic Arimidex may lead to mental slow down. It is not recommended to take this medication before driving or taking up other activities that require utmost concentration.
Avoid using Generic Arimidex if you have allergy to anastrozole. Breast-feeding and premenopausal women are not recommended to take the medication as well. The medication is not intended for men and children.
Taking Generic Arimidex is associated with an increased probability of osteoporosis. To avoid it, have your bone mineral density tested prior and in the course of taking the medication.
Taking Generic Arimidex along with tamoxifen or an estrogen medication (birth control, creams, implants, vaginal rings, etc.) might reduce its effectiveness. Notify your doctor before starting the course if you are already using any of the abovementioned medications.
Generic Arimidex may also interact with other medications.
Avoid taking a double dose of Generic Arimidex. Make up for the missed dose if you have forgotten to take one, but only if there is still plenty of time left until the next scheduled one. If the time when you remembered about the dose coincides with the time of the next one, simply take one prescribed dose and skip the one you missed.
Generic Arimidex should be kept at low temperatures, away from moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the medication upon expiration.
